The 519 Board of Management Candidates 2026
The 519 membership will elect new members to The 519 Board of Management at our upcoming Annual General Meeting, details of which are:
There are three available positions to fill on the Board this year, two must be filled by catchment area members, and one may be filled by a non-catchment area member. The catchment area is bounded by Bay, Bloor/Danforth, the Don Valley Parkway and the lands south of the Esplanade.
The 519 Board of Management is recommending three candidates based on the following Board-approved Skills and Experience as well as Recruitment Priorities.

Recommended Catchment Candidates:

Bobby Hrehoruk
Pronouns: He/They
Bio:
Bobby Hrehoruk is an experienced non-profit leader with more than 20 years of expertise in managing stakeholder relationships, fundraising, strategic partnerships, stakeholder engagement, and organizational growth. He currently serves as Senior Manager, Section on General and Family Practice (SGFP) at the Ontario Medical Association, where he works with physician leaders working in general and family practice. Formerly, he was the Director of Development with the OMA’s foundation, the Ontario Medical Foundation.
Throughout his career, Bobby has helped organizations grow their impact through innovative fundraising strategies, relationship building, and collaborative leadership. His experience spans health care, education, social services, and the arts, including leadership roles with organizations such as Rainbow Railroad, OCAD University, and United Way.
Known for bringing people together around a shared vision, Bobby combines strategic thinking with a passion for community impact, equity, and creating meaningful change. He has led high-performing teams, built transformational partnerships, and supported initiatives that connect donors, organizations, and communities to a greater purpose. He currently resides in downtown-Toronto with his partner and dog, and is an avid runner, reader, who enjoys giving back to community.
Bobby MacPherson

Bio:
Bobby MacPherson is a nonprofit executive and community leader with experience spanning organizational leadership, governance, finance, operations, fundraising and community development.
Bobby currently serves as Chief Operating Officer at the Tamarack Institute, where they support the organization’s finance, people and culture, marketing, operations, technology, risk and governance functions. They previously held senior leadership roles at Pride Toronto, working closely with community partners to support one of Canada’s largest 2SLGBTQ+ festivals and organizations.
Their connection to 2SLGBTQ+ community work began through advocacy and education, including working across Canada with the Get REAL Movement to create safer and more inclusive spaces for 2SLGBTQ+ youth in schools.
Bobby holds an MBA from McMaster University’s DeGroote School of Business and brings a particular interest in helping mission-driven organizations navigate change while keeping community needs at the centre of decision-making.
A longtime member of Toronto’s 2SLGBTQ+ community, Bobby is passionate about building spaces where people can find belonging, connection and opportunity and about helping strengthen the organizations that make those spaces possible.

Maya Borooah
Pronouns: She/Her
Bio:
Maya Borooah is a partner at Henein Hutchison Robitaille LLP, where her practice focuses on criminal and regulatory litigation, as well as internal investigations. Maya received an undergraduate degree in Arts and Science from McMaster University, a Masters in Political Science from York University, and a law degree from the University of Ottawa. She has completed a judicial clerkship at the Alberta Court of Appeal.
Maya is dedicated to community work that fights for 2SLGBTQ+ inclusion. She has volunteered with the Criminal Lawyers’ Association Women’s Committee, the Canadian Association of Elizabeth Fry Societies as a Regional Advocate, and with the Pink Turf Soccer League. Maya is committed to justice for all and to creating a just and sustainable future for her two young children.
