The 519’s 50th Legacy Fund is our promise to be here for the long haul, through uncertainty, crisis, and change. Your donation today provides the stability and flexibility we need to respond when our communities need us most and to invest boldly in what comes next. Can we count on you to help secure the future of Toronto’s 2SLGBTQ+ communities?
I’m fundraising for the The 519 Legacy Fund because I’ve seen firsthand how life-changing community-based support can be.
Through my work in refugee mental health and settlement, I’ve had the honour of walking alongside people as they navigate displacement, trauma, and the quiet, often unseen work of rebuilding a life in a new country. For many 2SLGBTQIA+ newcomers, spaces like The 519 become more than services. They become places to exhale, to be held in community, and to begin again. They are a lifeline.
The work at the 519 is so close to my heart. As a queer person from a family shaped by displacement and refugee history, I carry a deep belief that everyone deserves care, dignity, and a place where they feel they belong – especially those who have had to leave everything behind in order to look ahead.
At a time when displacement is rising globally and inequities persist, sustained community investment is essential. The Legacy Fund supports long-term strategic initiatives that honour the organization’s history while expanding its impact—funding legacy projects, community engagement initiatives, and critical programs aligned with The 519’s vision.
As a Board Member of The 519, this work is also part of my commitment to advancing our shared vision—one rooted in well-being, mutualism and resilience. The Legacy Fund allows us to invest in initiatives that strengthen these foundations over time, ensuring our communities are not only supported, but deeply connected and able to thrive.
I’m proud to support this work and invite you to join me in helping build a future where everyone has the opportunity to feel at home. Use the form below to make a pledge, one-time, or monthly gift online today. To arrange a gift of securities, click here.
