We are thrilled to invite you to join us for a 2SQTBIPOC (Two-Spirit, Queer, and Trans Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour) Archival Tour hosted by The ArQuives. For far too long, we have witnessed the erasure and absence of stories from Black, Indigenous, and racialized communities within our Queer and Trans spaces. This tour aims to explore The ArQuives’ rich collection, showcasing the history, impact, and legacy of 2SQTBIPOC individuals throughout our shared histories. Led by archivists, we will uncover stories, examine artifacts, and gain insights into the preservation of queer and trans histories, seeing ourselves reflected in the stories and people that have shaped us.

We will be gathering at The 519 at 4:30pm on Tuesday March 11 and Tuesday March 18, and walk together to The ArQuives (located at 34 Isabella Street). Each tour in the ArQuives will run from 5 to 7:30pm.

  • The tours are free admission by registration! We have limited spots, please register using our link.
  • These sessions are only open to Black, Indigenous, and racialized queer people, and priority is given to Two-Spirit, Non-Binary and Trans community members.
  • We will have transit tickets available.
  • To plan your trip to the ArQuives, visit their website for any accessibility information.

This tour is part of Each Other’s Magnitude, a project that emphasizes cultural memory, poetic storytelling, and creative collaboration by weaving together Toronto’s histories through the voices of community members, artists, and mentors, offering dynamic ways of telling stories across intergenerational communities. The Community Events and Storytelling department focuses on arts-based projects and visual and oral history initiatives, highlighting the experiences of intergenerational 2SQTBIPOC communities, including those impacted by HIV/AIDS.
