The 519 offers free financial programs and services designed to help 2SLGBTQ+ community members build knowledge, access financial supports, make informed decisions and work toward greater financial stability.

Financial Education and Workshops

Build practical financial knowledge and skills through free workshops offered throughout the year.

Our financial education programs cover everyday topics including budgeting, spending and saving, credit and debt, banking, government benefits, financial planning and making informed financial decisions.

Workshops include our four-part Financial Empowerment series as well as stand-alone sessions focused on personal finances and finances for people who are self-employed.

Financial Coaching and Counselling

Get personalized support with your financial goals.

Financial coaching and counselling provides one-on-one support to help you better understand your financial situation, identify priorities and develop practical steps toward your goals.

Depending on your needs, this may include support with budgeting, saving, managing expenses, understanding credit and debt, navigating financial institutions or developing a financial action plan.

Benefits Navigation Support

Find out what government benefits, credits and income supports may be available to you.

Our benefits navigation service can help you better understand programs and supports available through federal and provincial governments and how they may relate to your financial situation.

This service is designed to make complex systems easier to understand and help community members access the benefits and supports for which they may be eligible.

Get Help With Benefits and Income Supports

Tax and Benefits Clinic

Get free support filing your income tax return and accessing government benefits and credits.

The 519’s Tax and Benefits Clinic provides tax filing support for eligible 2SLGBTQ+ community members and people living in Toronto’s Downtown East. The clinic is supported by trained volunteers through the Canada Revenue Agency’s Community Volunteer Income Tax Program.

Registration and availability vary throughout the year.

Financial Literacy Programs for Community Organizations

We work with community and grassroots organizations to increase access to financial education for 2SLGBTQ+ communities.

Through partnerships and community-based delivery, organizations can work with The 519 to bring financial literacy workshops and resources directly to the communities they serve.
