It’s time for a lobby refresh!

Our lobby is the heart of The 519. For 50 years, hundreds of thousands of community members have come through our lobby to access programs, supports, and community-led groups. It’s time for a much-needed refresh. The lobby will be undergoing renovation beginning Monday, January 12. Work is expected to continue until Mid April.

All programs, services, and community-led groups will continue as usual, though you may notice some noise or minor disruptions along the way. Thanks for your patience as we build a space that works better for everyone.

This project is part of our ongoing effort to improve accessibility and functionality across our building. The updated lobby will offer enhanced programming space on the first floor as well as additional meeting space.

We will share regular updates on this page. For related questions or support, contact:

Renovation Updates

March 9, 2026 - Ground Floor Washrooms

As part of this project, all ground-floor washrooms will be renovated as well, one washroom at a time.

  • The NORTH washroom is currently closed for renovation.
  • The accessible washroom (just beside our EarlyON on the north side) and SOUTH washroom are both open to the public.

During this period, staff working in the lobby will direct community members to use a washroom that is not under construction. More updates will be posted as they become available.

November 25, 2025 - General Updates

Renovation is expected to take place from January to mid-April, 2026. During this time:

  • All programs and services will continue.
  • The elevator, ramp, and washrooms will remain accessible.
  • You can expect some noise and brief disruptions during this time. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we work to enhance the space for you!
  • Any temporary adjustments that affect access to the building will be communicated in advance on our social media, website, via our monthly newsletter, and onsite signage.
