The 519 offers free financial education workshops designed to make everyday financial topics easier to understand and use. Sessions provide practical information, tools and strategies that participants can apply to their own financial situations.

Our four-part Financial Empowerment series explores different areas of your financial life:

Money Mindset and Financial Confidence

Explore your relationship with money, the experiences that shape financial decisions, and ways to build greater confidence managing your finances.

Earning, Spending, Saving and Borrowing

Learn practical approaches to budgeting, managing expenses, saving, understanding credit and borrowing, and making financial decisions that work for you.

My Money, Government and Financial Institutions

Learn how financial institutions, taxes, government benefits and other systems can affect your finances and what you need to know when navigating them.

My Money and My Future Self

Explore financial goal-setting, planning for future expenses, saving and identifying realistic next steps toward greater financial stability.

Build practical skills and confidence to manage your everyday finances. This workshop covers budgeting, spending and saving, credit, debt, banking and financial goal-setting, with practical information and tools you can apply to your own financial situation.

Learn the financial basics of working for yourself. This workshop explores income and expense tracking, budgeting with variable income, taxes, record keeping, planning for tax payments and other financial considerations for freelancers, contractors and people who are self-employed.

Who Can Join?

Financial education workshops are designed primarily for 2SLGBTQ+ community members, with particular attention to people who experience barriers to accessing mainstream financial information and services.
