Hear It Stop It!

The Hear It! Stop It! #NoBystanders campaign and education program is part of our drive to challenge homophobic, biphobic and transphobic behaviour and to foster LGBTQ inclusive environments.

All organizations and individuals have the responsibility to ensure that people feel able to be themselves, free from bullying and abusive language.

The campaign and education program provides organizations, LGBTQ community members and their allies with the resources to make Canadian workplaces, services and community environments welcoming, safe and inclusive.

The campaign asks organizations and individuals to broadcast that you have made the pledge and to share photos online through social media.

The Hear It! Stop It! toolkit includes English and French language versions of the Hear It! Stop It! pledge card and English versions of the “If I hear it, I will stop it” poster series)

The Hear It! Stop It! campaign promotes the following actions:

• Seek support from Human Resources or your Positive Spaces Champion or Ambassador
• Download the Hear It! Stop It! No Bystanders poster and pledge card
• Share the No Bystanders pledge across your organization
• Ask colleagues to sign the No Bystanders pledge
• Display the No Bystanders poster in your organization
• Send us pictures of your campaign so that we can share your experiences and spread the word
• Schedule an Education and Training workshop for your staff

Workshops will help participants to:

• Identify and discuss common words to express sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression in Canada
• Identify and discuss examples of homophobic, biphobic and transphobic language and behaviour
• Identify and discuss examples of homophobic, biphobic and transphobic discrimination and harassment
• Demonstrate and share an empathetic understanding of the experiences of the LGBTQ people
• Propose ways to make the environment safe and inclusive for LGBTQ people
