Our team will be facilitating several special workshops throughout the year to support families and their journeys. All workshops are free and open to 2SLGBTQ+ families and families committed to creating authentic and inclusive spaces for everyone.

April 19: Safety

11:15 to 11:45am

Participants will learn about childhood injuries, and how to keep children safe to the stages of growth and development. Discussions can include environmental and home, safety, car seat, safety, and safety through the seasons.

May 1: Questions and Answers

11:15 to 11:45am

In the session, the public health nurse spend time circulating among individual families, or small groups and answering questions about any topic.

May 9: Routines

2:00 to 4:00pm during Every Baby Counts

The benefits of routines to create structure and security in the child’s day are explored and discussed. Topic will cover why routines are important, what factors play into establishing routines, and some tips to ensure safety. This workshop can be focused on healthy routines for infants, or for children 0 to 6 years.

June 6: Screen Time

2:00 to 4:00pm during Every Baby Counts

In the session, the benefits and impacts of screen time will be explored. Discussion with include looking at recommendations for screen time for age of a child and had a model and manage appropriate screen time behaviour . Physical activity recommendations as an alternative to screen time will be reviewed.

June 7: Getting Ready for Kindergarten

11:15 to 11:45 AM

This workshop will cover the benefits of establishing healthy routines for families and children and getting ready to attend kindergarten and tips for establishing routines. Healthy hygiene practices, the importance of immunization and checking on children’s development milestones will also be discussed.
