Food is important to our sustenance. But it is also about community and connection. It is a basic human right. Firmly recognizing this, The 519 has been running programs and critical food services with drop-in and takeaway options for over 40 years. No one is turned away.

Through our everyday work serving our neighbourhood and 2SLGBTQ+ communities across Toronto and beyond, we continue to see how so many people struggle to access to food. This harsh reality has only been heightened by the impacts of the pandemic, inflation, and climate change.

Folks living at the intersections of poverty, homelessness, unemployment, queerness, and racialization find themselves experiencing the most severe consequences.

We have been showing up every day, serving free meals and collectively saving our communities millions of dollars on buying food supplies. These supports are also coupled with other services including resources, referrals, grocery cards, and more.

All of this wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work and dedication of our Army of Lovers – our staff, volunteers, and donors. With you by our side, we will continue to ensure that no body is left behind, and that everyone is welcome at the table.
