Every year as winter approaches, we begin to hear about influenza (the flu). This year we are hearing about a different flu season. In addition to the regular or seasonal flu, we have to protect ourselves against the new H1N1 flu (also known as swine flu) virus that has been a major story worldwide in 2009.
Toronto Public Health is working with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and the Public Health Agency of Canada to monitor and investigate the illness. For more information on protecting yourself from the flu, visit the Toronto Public Health Website by clicking here.

Foodshare buys top quality fresh fruit and vegetables directly from farmers and from the Ontario Food Terminal, and volunteers pack it into green reusable boxes at the Field to Table warehouse. Those boxes are then delivered to The 519 Church Street Community Centre for pick-up. There isn't an easier way to buy local, fresh produce for your home.

The 519 is a place which has given our community a voice for over 30 years – that was the message we heard loud and clear in over 60 surveys, 3 public forums and countless meetings. But how do you take all of our shared history, memories and activism and roll it up into a single logo?
