Youth Mentorship is a monthly program designed specifically for newcomer youth (aged 14-19) who are Permanent Residents and Convention Refugees, residing in Canada for less than five years.

Delivered by peer mentors, the program offers a welcoming space and hands-on activities which explore issues and topics that matter to you.

The 519 understands that arriving in Canada can be a difficult transition and provides support and resources for LGBTQ newcomers and refugees of all ages and backgrounds.

2012-2013 program highlights:

  • Healthy Relationships—What makes for a ‘good’ relationship? What is consent?

  • Diverse City—What is “community”? What does my community look like? What communities make up Toronto?

  • Canada 101—Explore important people, places and events in Canada’s history
