The 519 Board of Management would like to invite all current Catchment Members to an information session about Board Bylaw Review Project that is currently underway.
The last comprehensive review of The 519’s bylaws was conducted in 2003. Since then, The 519 has gone through significant organizational changes, including increased size and operating budget, an expanded programs offering, heightened external profile, increased community linkages, a diversified resource base, and internal development initiatives. There have also been a number of changes to City of Toronto best practices, including the introduction of the Relationship Framework in 2006, Toronto Public Service By-Law in 2014, and Toronto Public Appointments Policy in 2015.
The bylaw review is an organizational strategic priority for 2022-23. The main goals are:
• Ensure The 519 is employing leading governance practices;
• Ensure The 519’s compliance with the City of Toronto Act; and
• Build capacity for The 519 to grow and adapt in the coming years.
This will be an opportunity to learn about the proposed changes to the bylaws that the Board will be recommending at the September 2023 AGM, ask questions, and provide feedback.
