About Us

The 519 Health Justice Hub is a one-stop program for 2SLGBTQ+ communities and neighbours looking for one-time legal supports, low-barrier access to health services, and social justice educational opportunities.

Wednesdays, April 10 to June 19, 3 to 5:30pm at The 519 [519 Church St.]

Services Available:

HEALTH SYSTEM NAVIGATION: 3 to 5:30pm

  • Talk to our coordinator about:
    • Referrals to dental care, foot care, physiotherapy, cancer screenings
    • Resources and education for finding gender affirming care
    • Accessing STI testing and medication

Partners Services: 3 to 5:30pm

Toronto Public Library – April 10

Lumenus – counselling for 2SLGBTQ+ youth (weekly)

Psymood – low cost therapy referrals (weekly)

Polycultural – counselling for refugee claimants (weekly)

Legal Supports and Workshops: 3 to 5:30pm

  • The 519 Legal Clinic intakes
  • Learn about The 519 Access to Justice programs
  • Special workshops
  • Meet with other community organizations
  • Monthly supports:
    • 1st Wednesday: Information and intake for Trans ID Clinic
    • 2nd Wednesday: Legal settlement support for newcomers
    • 3rd Wednesday: Wills and estates legal advice
    • 4th Wednesday: Advice about tenants’ rights and organizing

Special Events:

MPOX Vaccine Clinic:  Wednesday, April 3 and Tuesday, April 9 • 10am to 5pm

  • For ages 18+ only
  • Drop-in only; first come, first served,
  • Open until doses run out or it’s closing time
  • Ontario Health Card not necessary, but good to bring if you have it

Introduction to Sexual and Reproductive Health – April 10, 5:30 to 7pm

A workshop by Táleah Chandler from Black Coalition for AIDS Prevention (Black CAP) for African, Caribbean and Black 2SLGBTQ+ folks

We’ll talk about:

  • Sexual and reproductive health
  • Sexual and reproductive health rights
  • What services are available
  • Benefits of learning about sexual and reproductive health

This workshop is for:

African, Caribbean and Black 2SLGBTQ+ folks interested in learning the basics of reproductive and sexual health

Criminalization of HIV non-disclosure – April 24, 5:30 to 6:30pm:

A workshop by Shakir Rahim, Board member at the HIV Legal Network and Director of the Criminal Justice program at the Canadian Civil Liberties Association & Ryan Peck, Executive Director at the – HIV & AIDS Legal Clinic of Ontario.

We’ll talk about:  

  • What is the law of disclosure
  • Why is the law like this?
  • I have HIV – what can I do to protect myself
  • What are we doing to try and change the law

This workshop is for: Community members who have HIV, know someone with HIV, and anyone that wants to learn about the criminalization of HIV non-disclosure and support advocacy for changes to the law

Who Is the Health Justice HUB For:

The Health Justice Hub prioritizes underserved 2SLGBTQ+ communities, members of the neighbourhood, and those who do not have a family doctor.

No one will be turned away, but we will prioritize the following communities:

  • 1st Wednesday: 2 Spirit, trans, and non-binary communities
  • 2nd Wednesday: LGBTQ+ refugees and newcomers
  • 3rd Wednesday: 2SLGBTQ+ older adults
  • 4th Wednesday: 2SLGBTQ+ folks experiencing homelessness or who are underhoused
