Volunteer Position Description
General Centre Volunteers

Title: Income Tax Clinic Host

Purpose
  To greet clients of The 519 Income Tax Clinic and assist them with access to the clinic.

Qualifications
· Basic customer service skills.
· Sensitivity to issues faced by LGBT people, people with low incomes or who live in poverty, and people whose first language is not English
· Ability to multi-task and coordinate people

Responsibilities
· Ensure that all required items are available for the clinic.
· Set up the clinic appropriately for the number of volunteers and appointments.
· Obtain the appointment schedule from the Front Desk.
· Greet clients as they come into the clinic
· Ensure that the client has an appointment in the current schedule and cue them appropriately.
· Provide assistance to the clinic volunteers as required.
· Ensure that clinic statistics are provided to the Volunteer Coordinator
· Report any issues regarding the clinic to the Volunteer Coordinator
· Ensure client access to the clinic in an equitable and fair manner

Orientation/Training
  Income Tax Host volunteers will receive orientation from the Volunteer Coordinator.

Hours
 
Volunteers commit to weekly or biweekly four (4) hour shifts during the clinic hours of operation.

Commitment
 
March and April plus 1 month in the summer annually

Supervisor
  The Volunteer Coordinator supervises the Income Tax Clinic Host volunteers.
