Clothing Distribution Programme

Title: Clothing Assistant

Purpose
  Responsible for equitable clothing distribution including sorting, organizing and distributing clothes

Responsibilities
· Arrive at the Clothing Bank at the scheduled time.
· Greet participants and assist them with clothing selection.
· Sort clothing donations and organize it in the clothing cupboards.
· Assist with determining which clothing will be passed on to other agencies and bagging it for ‘pass on.’
· Ensure equitable distribution of the clothing to participants.
· Alert staff on duty of any aggressive behaviour or disputes in the clothing bank.

Qualifications
· Must be at least 18 years of age.
· Has a clear understanding of agency policies, including boundaries and confidentiality.
· Have excellent interpersonal skills.
· Have basic customer service skills.

Orientation/Training
· Has attended a 519 volunteer orientation.
· Has completed an interview with the Volunteer Coordinator.
· Has attended a Homeless & Anti-Poverty Programme volunteer training.
· On-site training of the clothing bank by the supervisor.

Hours
  Volunteers commit to a weekly 4-hour shift during clothing bank hours of operation.

Commitment
  6 months minimum

Supervisor
  The Homeless and Anti-Poverty Coordinator supervises volunteers. The Volunteer Coordinator is an indirect supervisor.
