Volunteer Position Description
General Centre Volunteers

Title: Community Outreach Volunteer

Purpose
  To provide friendly and informative assistance regarding inquiries about The 519 at community info tables, fairs and events.

Qualifications
· Good customer service skills.
· Training and orientation to The 519’s programmes and information services.
· Ability to multi-task and remain calm under stress
· Excellent interpersonal skills

Responsibilities
· Assist with setup/takedown of 519 information table/booth
· Provide information regarding The 519’s programmes and services.
· Troubleshoot any issues that arise off-site and report them to the Volunteer Coordinator
· Track and record the number of inquiries
· Provide on-site orientation to new volunteers

Orientation/Training
  Community outreach volunteers receive training and orientation from the Volunteer Coordinator.

Hours
 
Volunteers are booked on a call-in basis depending on their availability and interest.

Commitment
 
A minimum of 6 months. Volunteers who turn down shifts for twelve (12) consecutive months must speak with the volunteer coordinator.

Supervisor
  The Volunteer Coordinator supervises community outreach volunteers. If a staff person is on duty, they will provide support.

Travel
  Volunteers who are required to attend The 519 and then travel to another location for an information table/booth will be reimbursed for their travel expenses at the most cost-effective rate.
