Spark is a free weekly drop-in program for trans, gender non-conforming, non-binary and two-spirit youth age 16-29. Spark explores a range of sport and recreation activities including; ultimate frisbee, soccer, swimming, ice sports, field sports, bike riding, hiking etc.
Our expert facilitators will begin each season with an introduction to the fundamentals of each sport, building skill and ability over time. All are welcome; no previous experience required - it's all non-competitive, and in fact, we want to specifically encourage folks with no previous experience to join in on the fun. Feel free to just come and hang out/watch if that suits you best; you can participate however you want!
We are currently running weekly program out of Central Neighbourhood House Gym at 349 Ontario Street. We meet on Thursday Nights from 6-8pm.
Spark will be running a 5 part Nutrition Series throughout the spring, beginning with a Youth Leader Session on March 30th, and 4 remaining sessions happening throughout April, May, and June.
Join Spark for a Spring Adventure with Charlie's Freewheels, where participants will have an opportunity to build their own bike over the course of 5 weeks, and learn all about bike mechanics, and bike riding safety. This will take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5-8pm at Charlie Freewheels, and is registration based. Please find more information, or register here.
Spark will be venturing out to Evergreen Brickworks on April 20th for a learn to ride bike riding workshop. Whether you are new to riding a bike, have never riden before, or are looking to improve your skills, we encourage you to join us for an evening of riding, and community building. More information can be found here.
Any questions, or inquiries about the program can be sent to Luke.
