The Collecting Personal Archives Program is aimed at young Muslim women, aged 16-29 interested in creating their own archives from both personal and found objects as well as images. Participants will learn about institutional and personal archives, contemporary artists, and engage in an active and critical process of self-representation and storytelling. Over the course of the sessions, participants will create new works of art to narrate stories that provide alternatives to preconceived notions about identity, self and community.
This program offers the opportunity to:
- Learn from and be mentored under the guidance of visual artist and curator soJin Chun
- Exhibit work at the Gardiner Museum, and
- Work alongside other members of the community in creating an archival representational of the voices, lives, and stories of Muslim women in Toronto, and broadly
Please share this opportunity with your networks and those who would benefit from the program. Application package can be found here
