Honorary Patron Salah Bachir hosts “An Intimate Evening” in support of Canada’s largest LGBTQ Centre

TORONTO, October 24, 2016 – 200 guests joined philanthropist Salah Bachir for “An Intimate Evening with Jason Alexander”, The Annual 519 Gala hosted at The 519 last night (October 23). Presented by BMO Financial Group, with sponsorship support from The Slaight Family Foundation and Cineplex Media, this year’s Gala featured a spellbinding music and comedy performance from funny man Jason Alexander (TV’s Seinfeld). Toronto-based singer Kayla Diamond, the first place winner of Slaight Music’s most recent It’s Your Shot contest, also performed.

A highlight from last night’s performance was Mr. Alexander’s musical ode to The 519 called, “I Love the 519”, which among others, declared: "Yes, here – 519 can grow until one day it is the 5-2-0".

“Thanks to Jason Alexander’s funny and intimate performance, Salah’s amazing leadership, and the support of so many great corporate and individual friends, this year’s Annual Gala helped raise record-setting funds in support of year-round programs and services at The 519,” says Maura Lawless, Executive Director, The 519.

This year’s Gala raised $500,000 in support of The 519.

The 519 is a registered charity and an agency of the City of Toronto. The 519 is committed to the health, happiness and full participation of the LGBTQ community.
