The 519 joins with Cyndi Lauper!

We are excited to announce that The 519 in partnership with Egale is joining with Cyndi Lauper for the second annual True Colors Tour stop in Toronto in support of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, transgender, and Queer (LGBTTQ) equality.

The Toronto show will feature five hours of non-stop music and entertainment by headliners Cyndi Lauper, The B-52s, and exciting special guests including Rosie O'Donnell, Indigo Girls and The Cliks. Hosted by Carson Kressley, the tour comes to Toronto on Wednesday, June 4th at the Molson Amphitheater.

The True Colors Tour was conceived by Cyndi Lauper stemming from her desire to give back to the LGBTTQ community for the love and support they have given her throughout her career. The True Colors Tour is a celebration of the basic values and freedoms that should be shared by all Americans regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity and expression. Attendees will experience these values through the music of both legendary icons and the newest and coolest acts this generation has to offer.

So, don't miss out on this opportunity to join in the celebration. Tickets are on sale right now for the Toronto show and are available at www.ticketmaster.com.

Construction Update

We are very pleased to announce that Phase 2A is nearing completion and that we will be able to move into the new wing of The 519 in mid May. Although construction will still impact our services and limit the amount of space available to the community, we are well on the way to completing our expansion project. The original building will receive a much needed makeover next.

Underpinning the foundation, the work you now see being done on the exterior of the original building, is 80% complete. The sidewalk will be open again by May 15th.

We are booking meetings in the original building up until May 11, 2008, and then it will be time for our grand old building to be renovated.

Announcement of a one week closure from May 12- May 18:

From May 12 – 18 The 519 will be closed to the public so that staff can pack, move and unpack their offices, program equipment, and supplies. The 519 will be closed for the statutory holiday on May 19 and reopen in the new wing on Tuesday, May 20.
Keeping in touch:

During the move week (May 12-18), our main phone number will be answered from 9 AM - 5 PM for information and referrals only.

The 519 will retain our main telephone number. All staff extensions will change during the move week. After the move you will be able to reach any staff member by dialing the general phone number.

General phone number: 416-392-6874
Fax: 416-392-0519
Bashing Reporting Line: 416-392-6877

Many 519 staff will have a completely new direct line after the move.

The 519's computers will not be operational from May 13 – May 15.

Thank you!
We at The 519 appreciate the patience, cooperation and understanding that you’ve given throughout the construction process. We look forward to welcoming you to our new wing after May 20.
