BAM! POW! ZAP! Everyone knows Wonder Woman, Spiderman and the Flash, but superheroes can come in all shapes and sizes. What does it take to be a superhero in today’s Toronto?
Writers aged 6-9 can invent their own superheroes with Evan Munday, author-illustrator of the widely acclaimed The Dead Kid Detective Agency mystery series for young readers, at DIY Superhero Lab - a writing workshop co-presented by Small Print Toronto and The 519. The session will focus on the one thing that superheroes from The Avengers to The X-Men have in common: an incredible story.
The 519’s Kids & Youth Action and Arts Space offers fun, friends and cool opportunities for a couple of hours on the first and third Saturdays each month, starting October 7th until December 16th of 2017.
6 - 9 years old: Every first & third Saturday of the month, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
10 - 15 years old: Every first & third Saturday of the month, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
The 519 is collaborating with community-based arts educators to facilitate a program of arts-based activities with queer, trans, and gender independent kids and the kids of queer and trans families.
The goal is to offer a variety of arts-based programming for young people between the ages of 6-15 in a safe and affirming environment that is free and accessible to the community.
