What does your membership at The 519 mean to you?
From the bathhouse raids to the fight for marriage equality; from the struggles of the AIDS epidemic to the challenges faced by LGBT newcomers and refugees, the story of The 519 is a story of our members - people who have joined together to support one another, to celebrate with one another and to work together for a better future. Your membership in The 519 connects you to our collective history, to our vision for the future and to our daily efforts to build a vibrant, healthy downtown community.
The 519 is planning a major membership campaign in 2010.
The 519 Community Centre is its members – without each of you The 519 is just an address, just a building. Our history, beginning with our creation in 1976, is a story of people. It’s a story of thousands of people who have come together to meet, participate and celebrate together. We think there’s something special about being a member of this community, and we want to share that with as many people as possible.
We’re also interested in finding new ways to make your relationship with The 519 stronger.We’ve got lots of ideas about how we might better serve our members, but we’d love to hear from you – Why are you a member of The 519, and what can we do to make your experience even better?
